In Carefully selected patients, home studies are a cost effective and accurate alternative for the diagnosis of sleep apnea. It is strongly recommended that, as a physician, you pre-qualify your patients by asking if they:

 

• Have Pulmonary Disease

• Have Congestive Heart Failure
• Take Narcotics, particularly Fentanyl
• Have Neuromuscular Disease
• Have Severe Kyphosis / Skeletal Disease

Please refer your patient for a sleep study to an "Accredited Sleep Center" if they have any of the above conditions. A home based study will not diagnose Central Sleep Apnea.
