Types of Sleep Studies
Polysomnogram - In lab sleep study
Each private bedroom at Medical Sleep Solutions features a comfortable bed, a fan, a TV, magazines and snacks. During the overnight study, information is recorded that identify sleep stages and body system performances. Please note that registered technologists are immediately available to patients throughout the overnight study via cameras and speakers.
CPAP Titration Study
A CPAP study assists the physicians in determining the optimum air flow pressure to relieve your sleep apnea. During the CPAP study, you will be fitted with a mask. Continuous positive air flow will be adjusted throughout the night. Air flow is started at a minimum level and is appropriately increased at various intervals throughout the night. By the end of the study, the optimum level of air flow to prevent the collapse of your upper airway will be determined to eliminate pauses in your breathing as you sleep.
Home Sleep Study
A portable (take home) sleep study may be considered to diagnose Sleep Apnea under certain circumstances, which can be reviewed with your physician.
Multiple Sleep Latency Test
An MSLT study follows an overnight polysomnogram (PSG). This study is generally used to assess excessive daytime sleepiness to determine the appropriate treatment. Various factors, including but not limited to caffeine/nicotine intake and sunlight exposure, will be regulated to ensure the accuracy of the study.
Maintenance of Wakefulness Test
The Maintenance of Wakefulness Test (MWT) is a way to evaluate the ability to stay awake during the day. There are 4 periods of 40 minutes in which the patients ability to maintain wakefulness is tested.
